Time to Roll Out What Make Teachers Memorable
Next week I will start presenting the traits that Make Teachers Memorable that were derived from data developed from a study conducted with students in my classes in the School of Education at California State University, San Marcos. So far we have seen how it was conducted, what the results were, and the Impact we all can make in our classrooms with students and in our lives of Becoming Memorable.
Students entering the teaching program at CSUSM identified the characteristics and traits of their memorable teachers and the data was collected. They were asked to list the words that describe their teachers that made them memorable to them. This list has been gathered and compiled since 1997, from teacher candidates entering the School of Education at California State University, San Marcos, taking the Education 350 class; Foundations of Teaching as a Profession from 40 different classes over the years. Coincidentally, these top 100 traits are ones that anyone, in any profession or walk of life, can possess if they want to become memorable to others around them.
If the traits were presented once per week you would be waiting 100 weeks to see the NUMBER ONE most frequent response of the most Memorable trait a teacher was recognized for in these classrooms.
In order to get them to you quickly in this blog the 90 memorable traits outside of the top 10 will be presented in clusters of 10. These 90 traits are great in and of themselves. As you will see, they are excellent characteristics that should be emulated in our lives when interacting with others. However, they were not the most frequently recognized, year in and year out, from the study developed and data determined since 1997.
Stay tuned, we are almost there and ready to roll out What Makes Teachers Memorable.
