Here we go! the top 100 Memorable Traits that students have stated that made their teachers memorable in classrooms since 1997. We will count down the 100 traits in groups of 10 until we get to the Top 10. These traits are also great characteristics for all leaders/teachers, in and out side of a classroom, to try to incorporate in their approach to learning, leadership, and interactions in their daily life. 91. Welcoming
Definition: verb, gerund or present
participle: greet (someone arriving) in a glad, polite, or friendly way, be
glad to entertain (someone) or receive (something), react with pleasure or
approval to (an event or development).
Key Thoughts for Application: greet, salute, receive, meet, usher in, be pleased by, be glad about, approve of, appreciate, embrace
Building a relationship from the first step, gesture, and interaction. Learning in the classroom is a relationship adventure, so plan for your learning trip to be positive from day one.
92. Hopeful
Definition: adjective:
feeling or inspiring optimism about a future event (adjective) or a person
likely or hoping to succeed (noun).
Key Thoughts for Application: promising, encouraging,
heartening, inspiring, reassuring, auspicious, favorable, optimistic,
propitious, bright, rosy, optimistic, full of hope, confident, positive,
buoyant, sanguine, expectant, bullish, cheerful, lighthearted, upbeat
You set the tone and expectations for the student- the
half full glass, be the cheerleader for the student
93. Mentor
Definition: an experienced and
trusted adviser (noun) or advise or train (someone, especially a younger
colleague) verb.
Key Thoughts for Application: adviser, guide, guru,
counselor, consultant, Confidant, trainer, teacher, tutor, instructor

on the side not sage on the stage, in the trenches with the learner

Definition: in accordance with the
rules or standards, agreeing with what is thought to be right or acceptable,
treating people in a way that does not favor some over others, not too harsh or
critical
Key Thoughts for Application: just, legitimate, equitable,
honest, upright, honorable, trustworthy, impartial, unbiased, unprejudiced,
nonpartisan, neutral, even-handed, lawful, legal
Giving everyone what they need not just deserve. Being
able to see the issues and resolve for the benefit of all. Problem Solving
95. Interactive
Definition: (of two people or things) influencing or having an effect
on each other, allowing a two-way flow of information, responding to a
student's input.
Key Thoughts for Application: responsive, two-way
Taking the time to be an active listener. Don’t let
scarcity of time interrupt the connection to the students and situations, time
management
96. Historical
Definition: of or concerning history; concerning past events, belonging
to the past, not the present.
Key Thoughts for Application: past, bygone, ancient, old,
former, literary of yore, not contemporary
The
teacher traits that were memorable are either scientific or artistic. Here is
the scientific application (data) that a student remembered. Loved the subject
matter and the events of history. Get the kids hooked on the content and doing
what they love to do.
97. Musical
Definition: of or relating to music, to or accompanied by music, fond
of or skilled in music, having a pleasant sound; melodious; tuneful
Key Thoughts for Application: tuneful, melodic, melodious,
harmonious, sweet-sounding, sweet, mellifluous, euphonious
Another subject matter like. Again the students have
interests and hobbies that are important to them. Make them important to you.
Also look at these words. They can also reflect the tenure, tone and
interactions in the classroom
98. Leader
Definition: the person who leads
or commands a group, organization, or country. "The leader of a
group"

pioneer, front runner, groundbreaker, pathfinder, trendsetter, torchbearer,
world leader, world-beater, innovator, trailblazer, commander, captain;
superior, headman, authority figure; chairman, chairwoman, chairperson, chair;

Wow! So many titles and roles to choose from as an
educator. Your make or break a child’s life and love for learning in school.
Make a difference in their world and start your efforts with their benefit in
mind. Never settle. Always look to be doing it better. Don’t get stale and keep
imagining what it would be like to be sitting in their seat and looking at you all
day. Make their day be what you would expect others to do for you.
99. Confidence
Definition: the feeling or belief that one can rely on someone or something; firm trust, the state of feeling certain about the truth of something, a feeling of self-assurance arising from one's appreciation of one's own abilities or qualities
Key Thoughts for Application: trust, belief, faith, credence, conviction
Know what you want to do in your day. Set out with a
plan. Take the time to research what is best and stick to your plans. Teaching
doesn’t have to be a “one-person” show. Get feedback from peers, but once you
decide, go for it!
100. Respectful
Definition: feeling or
showing deference and respect, showing politeness.
Key
Thoughts for Application: courteous,
polite, decorous, civil, deferential
This is
an area that you get what you give. Model what you expect, expect what is good,
and good things will happen in your life.
